ABOUT OUR TRAININGS & CONSULTANT SERVICES

Lifelines recognizes the need for training that focuses on the distinct needs and experiences of TGI individuals.
TGI individuals have different needs and experiences than gay, lesbian, and bisexual (GLB) people; while some
TGI people also identify as GLB, most TGI people do not.  TGI people who are also GLB have additional needs
and experiences.  Many also face transphobia and access barriers in GLB environments.

Providers who have attended general "GLBT" training often express the need for TGI-specific training that is
capable of addressing the real life issues involved in providing care to transgender, transsexual, gender variant,
and intersex individuals.

Our trainings are tailored to match the organizational culture and practical needs of our clients, whether they are
providers or administrators.  We present the complex needs of our diverse constituents in a clear, easy to grasp
format, combining conceptual basics and foundational knowledge with personal narratives.

Our trainings include interactive case example exercises that help participants to develop real life, practical skills.
We believe that different learning methods and skills are effective in different situations, so we avoid a One Size
Fits All approach.  Our trainings vary in time length and topic, in order to respond to the changing needs of
providers.

We also offer agency-wide assessments, policy recommendations, and consultant services for agencies and
researchers.  For more information, please contact Executive Director Y. Gavriel Ansara at 401.369.9680 or
gavi@lifelinesri.org.
