Borderlands TGI Peer Support Group
2008 Summer Schedule: 1st and 3rd Tuesday nights
6:45-9:00 p.m.  **WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE LOCATION.**
Location withheld online for participant privacy.  Contact us for details.

**Please note that we will no longer admit participants who arrive after 7 p.m. or more than 15 minutes
late.  This new rule was approved by participants to ensure comfort and reduce disruption.
We recommend that participants plan extra driving time in case of traffic delays.**

All of our events are alcohol-free, drug-free, hate-free & abuse-free space.  We have a strict No Bullying rule.
People who violate this policy or the Ground Rules will be asked to leave and banned permanently if necessary.  
Please avoid wearing strong colognes or perfumes, so that people with chemical sensitivities are able to attend.

The peer facilitator will arrive by 6:30 p.m. for participants who need to change prior to the meeting.
Two gender neutral, single stall bathrooms with mirrors are available on the premises.

**THIS WORKSHOP IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE OF TRANS, GENDER VARIANT, OR QUESTIONING EXPERIENCE:**

Sick of provider insensitivity, mispronouning, transition delays, and/or failure to meet your needs? Been burned by
self-described “gender specialists” who had no clue about *your* gender(s)?  Want help finding an ethical therapist
who respects your gender(s) and body concept ("hardwiring”)? Know how to respond to therapist abuse?  We will
help you identify a safe, sane and consensual (SSC) mental health care path (not path/ology!) that works for YOU!

Advance registration required. $15 suggested donation to Lifelines. No one turned away for lack of funds.

What’s Up, Doc?  Meeting Your Health Care Needs
Facilitators: Gavi Ansara, executive director of Lifelines RI and Dr. Tim Cavanaugh, physician at CCAP Clinic
Family Health Services, Cranston, RI and Volunteer Medical Director of the Megaplex Clinic
This workshop is open to trans, gender variant, and intersex people and our supportive loved ones and allies.

Feeling disrespected or uncomfortable in medical situations? Worried about emergency room visits? Getting
mispronounced by receptionists or denied hormones? Feeling trapped or misunderstood by your doctor?  Want to
know how to respond to medical abuse?  Want to build healthy relationships with your medical providers? Gavi and
Dr. Tim will share strategies to make your health care experiences safer and more affirming and answer your
health care questions.
